BASIC Stamps are single-board computers that run the
Parallax PBASIC language interpreter in their
microcontroller. The developer's code is stored in an EEPROM, which can also be
used for data storage. The PBASIC language has easy-to-use commands for basic I/O,
like turning devices on or off, interfacing with sensors, etc. More advanced commands
let BASIC Stamp modules interface with other integrated circuits, communicate with
each other, and operate in networks. BASIC Stamps are ideally suited to low-volume
engineering, hobby or educational projects due to their ease of use and wide support

The BASIC Stamp BS1-IC is packaged in a 14-pin SIP module and is often an ideal
fit for volume applications with tight space limitations.

The BASIC Stamp BS2-IC is the single most popular BASIC Stamp module. Widely
used in educational, hobby, and industrial applications. This module has 2K bytes
of program space and 16 I/O pins. Serial PC interface provides enhanced debug features.

BASIC Stamp BS2E-IC

Using the Ubicom SX microcontroller, the BASIC Stamp BS2E-IC runs at the same
speed as a BS2-IC, but has the RAM and EEPROM size benefits of the BS2SX-IC, without
the speed and power consumption. Ideal for those who use the BS2-IC and would like
more variable or program space.

BASIC Stamp BS2SX-IC

Using the Ubicom SX microcontroller, the BASIC Stamp BS2SX-IC is 2.5 times faster
than the BS2-IC. It has the same program memory as a BS2P24-IC. It is a great solution
for those needing more horsepower than a BS2-IC can provide.

BASIC Stamp BS2P24-IC

The BASIC Stamp BS2P24-IC has several advantages over all previous BASIC Stamps,
including commands for interfacing with parallel LCDs, I2C devices, Dallas Semiconductor
One Wire parts, and a polled interrupt capability. The BS2P24-IC is 3 times faster
than the BS2-IC and 20% faster than the BS2SX-IC. The BS2P24-IC is pin-compatible
with other BS2 variants.
